Grisly Discovery in Dharwad: Skeleton Found in Locked House
Dharwad, EXPRESS News: In a chilling turn of events, what began as a routine missing person investigation has morphed into a macabre mystery that has left the Vidyagiri police force reeling.
Officers were stunned Tuesday when their search for the missing Chandrashekhar, 60, led them to his locked house near Canara Bank in the Malamaddi area. Upon forcing entry, they were confronted with a gruesome sight: a human skeleton sprawled on the bed.
“We’ve seen our share of crime scenes, but nothing quite prepares you for something like this,” said Inspector Sangamesh Didaginal, his voice tinged with disbelief.
The missing person report, filed on August 8 by a relative in Maharashtra, had seemed straightforward. Chandrashekhar, a loner with no wife or children, had seemingly vanished without a trace. Now, investigators are grappling with the possibility that he may have been dead for over a year.
In a twist that has baffled locals, neighbors failed to report any foul odors. Police theorize that the proximity of a large drainage system may have masked any telltale smells of decomposition.
As forensic teams comb the scene for clues, questions continue to mount. Was this a tragic case of natural death and isolation, or is there a more sinister explanation lurking beneath the surface?
“We’re exploring all angles,” stated police officers. “In cases like these, we can’t afford to make assumptions.”
